Montessori & John Dewey

Montessori Method The base of the Scientific Pedagogy, on Montessori terms, would be a child-centered educational approach based on scientific observations of children. More focusing on the development of the child more so than learning the information. In a traditional Montessori classroom, kids are encouraged to learn on their own, through experience with countless activities to help the young students learn. Take note, I am talking about this in terms of an elementary style classroom. Students should have the freedom to learn through activities chosen by them. Now they are not completely free to do whatever they want, being that they are closely monitored by the current teachers. The teachers aren’t merely teaching the students, but assisting them with teaching themselves, determine when the student is ready to move on to the next level of abstraction. This method also helps in teaching them morals, having them clean up after activities and encouraging cooperation and manner

Civil Disobedience & The Mexican War

Subject: Civil Disobedience (pp. 301-325, Paragraphs 1-2) The Mexican American War (Video) They say:             Governments, by the words of Henry David Thoreau, main job is to facilitate, or impede, the actions of their people, may it be an individual or an individual group. But though the government is a means for people to express their will, it can also be used by a few people to work against the people’s desires. The current system rules by majority, not justice, turn people from individuals into tools, with people who go against it are seen as enemies. At this time, people lived with a government which supported slavery, which turned men who were civil by nature to resist. These laws were seen as unjust, and if you were a real man, you would resist such laws. Those who abolish these laws should withdraw their support from the state by not paying certain taxes and even willingly go to prison. This may seem extreme, but to have your voice heard in a government that is onl

Though most Americans today can recite the Declaration by heart, the document as it was passed and the one we know today are vastly different, with no less than 86 changes. One of the biggest changes would be of him condemning the slave trade. At the time their current institution was one in favor of keeping the standards of slavery a float. Machiavelli, born in Florence in 1464, proclaims that it's hard to be a good politician and also be a good person, in the Christian sense, at the same time. That a politician's main job is to defend and keep honor to

Machiavelli, once a failed politician, believe and wrote through one of his works, the Prince, that the main purpose of a politician is to protect the honor of the state from internal and external threats. Doing this, he will need to be able to keep his own people in line, but although being nice may work for a little while, the ruler should air on the side of ruthlessness, for this is what keeps people in line. The people should not find it easy to do what they want, but the prince shouldn't be so ruthless that it disgusts the very people he's serving. He needs to be seen as extremely strict, but also reasonable. Machiavelli argues that a prince should make good use of the term virtue, which would involve wisdom, strategy, strength, bravery, and in some cases, ruthlessness. Machiavelli describes this as something like "criminal virtue", which allows the politicians to be cruel in the name of the state. This doesn't mean that they can be cruel whenever they pleas
